With the rapid development of solar technology, the performance of solar street lights has gradually improved, and more and more roads have chosen to install solar powered street lights. However, due to problems in the installation process, some roads where solar LED street lights are installed are too bright, while others are dim, which has a lot to do with the installation distance of solar road lights. So how should we determine the installation distance of solar street lights?

What factors are related to the installation distance of solar outdoor street lights?
1. Road width
There is a certain correlation between the installation spacing of solar powered street lights and the width of the road. Generally speaking, when the road is wider, solar LED street lights need to be set with a larger spacing to ensure the uniformity of lighting, while narrower roads require a smaller spacing.
2. Light pole height
The height of the light pole of the solar street light will affect the distribution range of light. Generally speaking, the higher the light pole of the streetlight, the wider the lighting range, and it can cover a larger area. Therefore, when designing, the installation spacing of solar street lights is usually proportional to the height of the light pole. The higher the light pole, the larger the installation spacing can be; conversely, when the light pole is lower, the installation spacing needs to be reduced to ensure the lighting effect.
3. Arrangement method
When installing solar powered outdoor street lights, there are generally three lighting methods: single-sided lighting, cross lighting on both sides, and symmetrical lighting on both sides. Special roads such as crossroads, T-junctions, lighting between two roads, and bends can be arranged according to actual conditions.
4. Type and brightness of the light source
Solar street lights using LED light sources have higher brightness and a wider range of illumination, so they can allow for larger installation spacing. If solar road lights use sodium lamps or other traditional light sources, these light sources have a smaller illumination range and require a shorter installation spacing to ensure uniform lighting.
5. Road lighting requirements
For sections with heavy traffic, solar powered street lights require higher lamp poles and shorter installation spacing so that they can provide drivers with sufficient lighting when the speed is fast and improve driving safety. For rural roads or secondary roads with low traffic, the spacing between street lights can be larger to ensure the uniformity and continuity of road lighting.

How to design solar LED street light distance?
1. Calculate lighting requirements
Determine the illumination value according to the type, function, and use requirements of the road where the solar powered outdoor street lights are installed. For example, urban main roads generally require an illumination of 20-50 lux per square meter, while rural roads only require 10-20 lux. In addition, the uniformity of light should be considered to avoid obvious light and dark contrast.
2. Consider the width of the road and the height of the light pole
If a solar street light of about 7 meters is installed, a single-sided interactive lighting installation is generally used, and the installation distance is about 20-25 meters. Less than 20 meters will affect some lighting. In addition, one more street light should be installed at the corner to avoid lighting blind spots.
If you want to install a solar road light with a pole height of 8 meters, you must ensure that the distance between the street lights is 25-30 meters, and the installation on both sides should adopt a cross-lighting method. This method is mostly used for road lighting with a width of 10-15 meters.
If you want to install a 12-meter-high solar street light, the longitudinal spacing is generally recommended to be 30-50 meters, and symmetrical lighting on both sides should be used, and the road width must exceed 15 meters.

The installation distance of solar led street lights is not fixed but needs to be determined comprehensively based on multiple factors such as road type, lamp pole height, illumination requirements, light source type, etc. By reasonably calculating and adjusting the installation distance, the lighting effect, energy efficiency, and road safety of the road can be guaranteed. If the installation distance is too short, it will cause a waste of resources and increase costs. If the installation distance is too long, the lighting effect cannot be guaranteed. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the installation distance of solar powered outdoor street lights based on actual conditions.
